As the cooler nights creep in and fireside chillouts replace summer BBQs we look at some of the winter warming events to keep you entertained in and around Burton this month. From live music to winter walks and sparkling firework displays we’ve got everything you need to make November go with a bang.
Burton Radio ‘Wallbanger’ Photography Competition 2024
Find out who came first, second and third at the Brewhouse Arts Centre on Saturday 9th November at 7:30pm. You can also see all 45 shortlisted submissions following the ‘Photos that best reflect Burton-on-Trent’ brief. You can still vote for the photos online by clicking here
Adventure golf at Branston Golf & Country Club
Open Monday to Sunday 10am to 5pm. Tickets start from £5 or £23 for a family of four.
Set beneath the trees the 18-hole ‘woodland’ themed golf course is the perfect place for golfers of all abilities. Take on the elaborate trail as you battle hills, tunnels and water holes with a few woodland creatures even getting in the way of your shots as well!
Light refreshments are available at the adventure golf kiosk or head to the Clubhouse Bar and restaurant for a heartier meal where kids get half-priced meals after adventure golf, just show your receipt when ordering.
Fireworks on the Farm

November wouldn’t be complete without an amazing firework display. Fireworks on the Farm bring more than just sparkle with live music, fairground rides, farm animals and an action-packed fun field. With plenty to do before the fireworks start, take advantage of the three-storey indoor soft play area or explore the outdoor fun field with jumping pillows, go-karts and sand play and fossil dig.
There will also be a spectacular fire show, with doors opening at 2pm to allow visitors to make a full day of the event. Street food and a licensed bar are also available.
National Trust walks
With miles of countryside walks right on our doorstep why not escape into the great outdoors for a winter walk. Calke Abbey, The Children’s Country House at Sudbury, Foremark Reservoir, Hardwick Hall and Staunton Harold are just some of the many National Trust locations waiting to be discovered.
With over 1,000 hectares of ancient parkland and formal gardens Calke Abbey provides plenty of opportunities to wrap up warm and enjoy the winter walks and cycle rides.
The Children’s Country House at Sudbury is a place to have fun with history. Crunch through leaves in the Bluebell Wood or learn about the escapades and challenges of childhood through the ages in the museum. Then head over to the Hall to discover the 16th century home of the Vernon family.

The Deer Park
Featuring a 5km walk around the farm, The Deer Park offers the perfect retreat. Based in Maker Lane, Hoar Cross, the owners worked with the National Forest to plant 15,000 trees on site and create the perfect woodland walk.
