East Staffordshire Borough Council Partners With Food Charity To Open New Food Clubs.
The new hubs will be operating in Burton and the Waterside Community Centre. Furthermore, all new members who register in the first 6 months will receive their first Bread and Butter shop free of charge.

This low cost weekly shop provides essential produce for family eating – fresh fruit and veg, fridge favourites and cupboard staples.
Simon Slater, a councillor and cabinet member for Communities and Regulatory Services stated: “Following the success of the Uttoxeter hub, I am pleased to see two more hubs opened in Burton upon Trent. These hubs offer East Staffordshire residents fresh and healthy food at budget-friendly prices and I look forward to seeing how they grow going forward. As a Council, we are committed to supporting residents with the cost of living.”
Vic Harper, Bread and Butters Chief Executive says: “We’re all about helping food budgets go further so we’re really pleased to have the opportunity to support more communities in East Staffordshire. The Bread and Butter Thing is about reducing the need for emergency food provision, increasing access to nutritious food and building strong communities.”
The charity sources its food from the likes of Co-op, Sainsburys and Morrisons, all the way to food manufacturers and farmers. With Ms. Harper going on to say: “so, our members get to do their bit for the environment too by stopping excess food going to waste.”
The new hub details and opening times are listed as follows:
Burton - Every Thursday 14:00-14:30 - Burton-on-Trent DE14 2ED (Register as a member by 21st April 2025 to receive your first shop for free).
